1. What is remedial massage?
Remedial massage is a clinical treatment that targets specific muscles, tendons, and connective tissues to relieve pain, reduce tension, and improve movement. It’s often used to support injury recovery, manage chronic conditions, or reduce muscle tightness from training or everyday stress.

2. Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book a remedial massage. However, if you're seeing one of our physiotherapists, your massage therapist can work closely with them to ensure integrated care.

3. What should I wear to the appointment?
You’ll be asked to undress to your comfort level, and towels will be used to drape appropriately during treatment. For some sessions, you may remain partially clothed depending on the area being treated.

4. Is remedial massage painful?
You may feel some discomfort in tight or sensitive areas, but your therapist will always work within your comfort zone and adjust pressure as needed. Communication during the session is encouraged.

5. Can I claim through private health insurance?
Yes, remedial massage is claimable through most private health funds. Check with your fund to confirm your level of cover.

6. How long is a session?
Appointments 60 minutes in length. A thorough session that includes a review of your health history, postural assessment, and focused hands-on treatment tailored to your individual needs. Please note that 55 minutes is allocated to massage time to allow for changing, payment, and rebooking.

7. Where is The Functional Physio located?
We’re conveniently located in Undefeated private lifting club, Level 1, 620 Church Street, Cremorne, close to public transport, with parking available nearby. Our clinic is easily accessible for those working or living in Melbourne’s inner suburbs.
